Artist duo David Brognon and Stéphanie Rollin will discuss key elements of their artistic practice, including their work with local communities which informed the exhibition Templates of Chance, launching at Rua Red on the evening of Friday 7th June. All ages are welcome to attend, though the content is most suitable for adult audiences.

Luxembourg artists Stéphanie Rollin and David Brognon are described as 'Explorers of the abyss'. Since 2006, the collaborative duo have been observing those who exist on the fringes of society. They create modest monuments to people who have fallen by the wayside where addiction and melancholy exist side by side. Their work does not shout; it quietly unfolds.

Over the last 18 months Brognon and Rollin have embedded themselves within the community of Tallaght as part of a residency and new commission for Rua Red. The commission, titled Templates of Chance, engages with the process of recovery from addiction and demonstrates how failure, pushing through, and progression are an essential part of the process.

In this talk, Brognon Rollin will discuss the process of creating Templates of Chance, situating the exhibition within their socially-engaged artistic practice. They will also delve into their take on resilience, a theme that comes up often in their work.

This is a unique opportunity to hear Brognon Rollin speak about their work and see examples of past artistic projects that they have created in collaboration with different groups and individuals both in Ireland and abroad.

Time will be given for a Q&A after the talk.

Numbers for this event are limited, please book in advance if possible.
