- Ages 18+

Create wearable sculptures that respond to all things protection and connection! All to be made, worn and played in by you.
Join artist Nessa Finnegan for a series of collaborative and individual creative experimentations where you will explore building your own safe space (with wearable sculptures) that provides protection from the outside world as well as connection with others. It sounds serious because it is! It will also be fun, Nessa promises!
Using a mix of recycled and new crafty materials and fabrics, this workshop is for anyone wishing to take action and make their own versions of protection and connection - all creative individuals, artists, students, and interested bystanders are invited to join in and make a multitude of wearable protection and connection sculptures.
Please bring one piece of clothing or an accessory you are happy to destroy and renew in the process: a hat, t-shirt, jumper etc.
Nessa Finnegan
Berlin based / Irish artist Nessa Finnegan specialises in making supercut video work as well as soft and squishy (wearable) sculptures. Using humour and tactile materials whilst maintaining a healthy dose of voyeurism and discomfort. Nessa's most recent works are inspired by historical protective clothing worn by women in Ireland, in particular cloaks. Her interest in their protective nature leads her to investigate contemporary issues including a wide spectrum of established gendered roles and rules as well as authority and power. Nessa's wearable sculptures are a necessity, made to create safe spaces beneath her cloaks.
