EXHIBITION
REFUNCT MEDIA
presented by RUA RED as part of the Glitch Festival
We live in a disposable society. Mobile phones, communication devices, game consoles and PCs have short lifespans. How can we rethink, reuse and reinvent our e-waste?
Hardware hacking, programming and physical computing are becoming part of artistic scope. There is a growing interest among artists and designers to know more about these domains of creation.
This event is a unique opportunity in Ireland to discover and experience current artistic and technological development in this fascinating field of artist research. And to engage with the contextualization of this new art practice.
The exhibition includes work from international visual artists: Tali Hinkis & Kyle Lapidus from LoVid (USA), Karl Klomp (NL), Gijs Gieskes (NL), Benjamin Gaulon (FR/IRL), Tom Verbruggen (NL) and Rosa Menkman (NL).
(ReFunct Media is a multimedia installation that (re)uses numerous "obsolete" electronic devices. The project will be built over a period of a week and broadcast live on the Internet on www.glitchfestival.com, www.ruared.ie, and www.data.ie)
