Suburban Sounds was a Masterclass series open to young musicians (aged between 15 -18yrs) with a passion for songwriting and performance which was held in RUA RED.
It took place over two weeks in July '09 and featured singing, creative-writing, song-craft and music technology workshops. It also offered studio-recording and video-making facilities and performance opportunities.
A You Tube channel has just been launched featuring recorded performances by the musicians of tracks written over the two weeks including the fantastic 'Plunge Into The Bliss' by Ken Baker which you can see below.
The musicians who took part were: Jonathan Halpin, Cathal Redmond, Neil McAllister, Ken Baker, Tiernan Jones, Stephen Rynne, Darragh McCauley, Aidan Given, Hugh O'Dwyer and Paddy Jordan.
The Creative Director was Fiona Delaney and tutors included: Sarah Busfield (voice), Paul Perry (creative writing), Elton Mullally, Martin Moran (song-writing & composition), Donal McPartlin (percussion/ rhythm), Michael Fleming (music technology).
The songs were recorded by Gerry Horan from Contact Mobile Recording Studio.
