  Acting on Inspiration

One of the things I really love about my job is that I am constantly inspired.
I'm inspired by conversations, images, people, works of art, food, challenges, stories and more.

About 2 years ago I was in a brainstorming session for a large project led by a facilitator. The start of this session was all about what inspired us. My colleagues brought in objects and items that represented someone or something that they found inspiring. Some of the stories were emotional and heartfelt, others extremely funny or deeply caring.
I'll be honest, I struggled with this. Not because I felt I had never been inspired but because I am inspired by SO much. The challenge for me is acting on inspiration.

Yesterday I was extremely lucky to spend the afternoon with DK and Mark from MediaSnackers who were visiting Dublin on business. I had been fortunate enough to hear DK speak at an Digital Media Conference in London last year (which unsurprisingly I was inspired by) and jumped at the chance to spend time with them.
I learnt so much through the afternoon. They have such great stories and experience and I got a lot more from it than perhaps they think. (You'll be seeing the results over the next few months).

Determined not to lost my positivity I came in this morning and made a promise that I would implement at least one thing I learned yesterday. So i'm currently learning and implementing RSS Feeds into my work and enjoying 'playing and conversing' more with my social media friends here. Not only do I feel good about it, but I'm having such fun that I feel inspired to do more.

Often when we are inspired and get ideas we hit brick walls which stop us from taking action. It could be
- lack of support
- lack of funds
- lack of time
- personal doubt
or any number of other reasons why we choose not to follow through.

Each week I'm going to post about something or someone that inspires me, a little bit about how i've actually acted on it and any results and experiences I get from it.

So my challenge to you is to act on your inspiration. Send the first email, join a class, cost out a project, start a conversation. And let me know how you get on...

See you soon!
Carolyn
