One thing I've really noticed with my recent communications with the outside world is that you are not all that sure about who we are and how it works out here in RUA RED. So in this quick update I'm going to try bust those myths that I hear regularly and make you a little more sure about who we are.

We Are Independant
RUA RED is an independant charity. Our registered name is South Dublin Arts Centre Company and we are fully responsible for the management and programming of the centre. RUA RED is not run by South Dublin County Council but we do receive some financial support from them to run the centre.

We House Tenants
There are a number of companies and individuals who are full time tenants in the centre.
Tallaght Community Arts live in a main office on the 2nd floor and programme a decent part of their programme within the centre. Have a browse through their website to learn more!
We also have 6 artist studios and 3 incubator spaces which are fully occupied at present by artists, writers, designers and more...I'll write about them soon. (Its a busy place)

We Don't Have Much Funding
I know this is the common cry from most arts centres, but the truth is at present we actually have no funding for artistic programming. Tricky. So that means nothing from the arts council, no pennies from sponsorshop or any other funds. We are working our little bums off to change that so we can bring you the exceptional programme that we have in mind. Anything you see us putting on is done with a lot of love, kindness and extreme budgeting mastery.

You Can Rent Our Insides!
Each space within the centre (except maybe the loos and our office) are available for you to rent. Thats our performance space, music rooms, media labs, dance studio, meeting room etc. We have incredibly competitive rates and extremely adaptable spaces making us an exceptional venue. To hire a space or come for a tour you just need to contact the lovely Orla who will look after you.
