KOOYONG DESIGN AT INTERIOR DESIGN AND ART FAIR

Davin Larkin of Kooyong Design, who is resident in one of our artist studios on the third floor, will be present at the RDS for the Interior Design and Art Fair this year with the 'Cream of Irish Design'.

Cream of Irish Design,(CoID) the group of designer/makers who return to the Interior Design and Art Fair 2010 follows from the success of last years launch shows in Dublin and at 100% Design London.

Featuring some of Irelands leading designers such as Shane Holland , Sasha Sykes of Farm 21 and Liz Nilsson & Patricia Murphy to newer faces making a name such as Dunleavy Bespoke (furniture), Brigitta Varadi ( textile artist), Davin Larkin of Kooyong Design, Martin Gallagher and Jenny Walsh included in a list of some 15 companies and individuals all designing and manufacturing in Ireland for the interiors market. The new list brings a younger perspective to what were more established names such as Joseph Walsh or Zelouf & Bell who partook last year.

The fresh face of this year’s offering is part of founder Shane Holland’s strategy to bring on new talent and create energy in the sector. The main objective of CoID is to set out what is best in new design in Ireland and to promote and represent this positive new story at home and abroad.

The showing of CoID as an Irish Pavillion at 100% Design London last September was a first for Irish Design in the international sphere. Pieces such as John Lees ‘Farraige’ cabinet which was sold to Prince d’Arenberg of Switzerland was a testament to the high standards we are achieving within Irish Design. The diversity of the group from Dutch (Ben Gabriel) Swedish (Liz Nilsson) English (Duncan Russell) and Hungarian (Brigitta Vardi) alongside the Irish contingent is another indication of how we can learn a lot from other nationalities who run businesses in Ireland and who enrich our offering of design.

The show is running on the main Hall Balcony with Private view on Thursday evening at 6pm.
Friday 11am – 9pm
Saturday 11am – 7pm
Sunday 11am – 6pm
